Title: Story of Suzuki GS 150 Pakistan (2006 to 2014) Buyers Must Read

Quality gives up in 2014
&
Suzuki jeet gaee . . . . .

With these words above I start a new topic where I will try my best to share experiences of GS 150 2006, GS 150 2008, GS 150 2010 & GS 150 2013.

The 3/4th of story might not be interesting for people getting new GS, but the last part will be important for new biker brothers.

well, first of all let me talk about the first GS that continued in sales from 2006 to 2007 end or 2008 start
this model of bike had great quality.

The only thing i was satisfied was the rear tire size, the Graphics @ fuel tank & side covers were attractive. and the change i witnessed in form of a big bike with bigger fuel tank than cg 125 was cool
the chrome @ fenders, rims, silencer was so great, that i did not feel any problem. infact the silcener started changing color at start / bend after 1.3 yrs.
a few good acesories like silencer cover, footrest frame cover, fully chromed meter rings and rear shock caps were maatching black & red colors.

oh yes, once me & Mustafeez noticed that our indicators are very strong that we can park our bikes with their support
the foam used in seat was also reported very good by many bikers for that model.
about engine? oh yes,
my information says it was 100% made & assembled in Thailand at that time. Suzuki Thailand used to export the engine blocks to Pak Suzuki. I remember, once we had to cross a very tough patch in Murree, infact we were on wrong track, but while climbing, GS told me that it had Highest Power level in Pakistan.

Now talking about the issues.
Never had engine break up in 2 yrs.
Few times I had to ride for about 3 hrs in winter & tough summer too.
Once we were riding @ max from Murree to Lahore @ Max summer, n yes, no long breaks.
The only issue I faced was very slight missing @ low RPMs, the bike was 15000kms & 1.5 yrs old.

NOTE: No single service center was able to dignoZe correct problem, when I got the news about issue from Molvi Sb (great mechanic from Saddar Cantt Lahore), it was problem of carb Parts. When I asked Suzuki Service centers, no one in Lahore accepted to do the job.
My Info says, PAK Suzuki still has the problem of shortage of good Guru Mechanics.

NOTE: I had to wait for one week when parts arrive Lahore Main Service Center.
My Info says, PAK Suzuki still has the problem of parts availability (different parts for diferent models).

Major Issue: After 1.8 yrs I faced problem of CDI in that model, which was again faced by many when their bikes crossed 1.5 yrs of age. Most of us faced issue in less than 2 yrs.
My Info says that pak Suzuki worked on it and managed the issue after 2008.

Now going to share last point about 2006 Suzuki GS
which had an issue and it is still noticed in 2008, 2010 & 2013 Models too

It’s wiring quality, being used by Suzuki
whenver we used to ride at 70 or 85 km p hr speed for long times, we used to see all lights and system shutting down and turning ON themselves. sometimes, we had to manage with great struggle, i mean all lights off. and then battery looked dead. but after two days in normal life, everything appeared to be fine.
I noticed same issue in 2010 too. and a friend shared same in 2013 model too.

NOTE: I believe that Suzuki bikes specially Gs has the issue with it, because their vendors system has not improved, it looks like to us

GS 150 2008 Model:

Got this bike in 2nd half of 2008. I got it as in used condition. Though it belonged to a friend but was . . . . I don’t know why, but I was not satisfied with this machine. So s s  s s s sold it sooner..

Want to share a few things that Pak Suzuki instead of showing Progress and Add new things they had started to cut the cost of the bike. I used 2008 model for about 2000 kms, but found:

NOTE: It has same issue of CDI, I don’t know  much about reason because of replaced with a used one from Bilal Ganj sooner.

It has same wiring issue. Though I kept this model for short time, but I remember I was returning from a solo tour and during night riding I found all of it’s small lights in Instrumental Panel starting blinking. Moreover, for two times the head light started turning off and I had to wait for 15 minutes, so that the issue cools down and yes, this happened.

Pak Suzuki Progress in that Model: Instead of progress, PS has shown negative movement.

Many things are deleted in the model,

I was afraid due to this cost cutting and thought that a time is coming when their cost cutting will effect quality after decreasing a lot of accessories

Rear Footrest cover was absent

Chrome caps of rear shocks were absent

Chromed dials of meters were absent

Bikers used to say that the chrome of Silencer get yellowish within a year

So, now we can say that from 2006 to 2008, a few issues were found:

1-      Wiring Quality Problem still present

2-      Quality of Chrome of Silencer moving down

3-      CDI problem was still better (as per reported to Pakistan Bikers Club) from all over Pakistan

4-      Worst thing, instead of progress, Suzuki GS 150 was going downwards, many accessories were deleted, many good quality parts e.g., Indicators replaced with low quality

GS 150 2010 Model:

Instead of improvements, additions in 2010, this bike was still having deletion program going on. I got 2010 GS in new. But it was just satisfying a need, where I cld have a bike that has more weight and will be stable on road. And may be something was satisfying me by saying that it’s biggest bike ever made in Pakistan.

On the other hand, when we turn to reality, it has nothing attractive, infact it’s very first model was attractive and in 2008 and then 2010, for me it was just loosing the attraction.

NOTE:

It has same wiring issue. Though this did not find this issue as much sever as in 2006, but still I found this and many fellow members also claim this in 2010 model.
Pak Suzuki Progress in that Model: Instead of progress, PS has shown negative movement.
Many things are deleted in the model,
I was afraid due to this cost cutting and thought that time is coming when their cost cutting will effect quality
Rear Footrest cover was absent
Chrome caps of rear shocks were absent
Chromed dials of meters were absent
Bikers used to say that the chrome of Silencer get yellowish in less than 6 months

So, now we can say that from 2006 to 2010, a few issues were found:

1- Wiring Quality Problem still present
2- Quality of Chrome of Silencer moving down
3- Worst thing, instead of progress, Suzuki GS 150 was going downwards, many accessories were deleted, many good quality parts e.g., Indicators replaced with low quality

Now comes the most shocking point

Well, one of PBC member in Khi owned a gs 2010 / 11. Some time later (may be it was 2011 or 2012) he realized that the bike is not balanced. At first he ignored and checked himelf. He used to adjust the front tire. But when he started confirming from mechanics and friends, he found that its true that the bike is not balanced. Then he went to Suzuki Karachi showroom. At first they used to ignore him, but when he insisted that his bike shld be checked or he will use his club to reach Suzuki head office. Tthen, they made some check ups. In short they took bike to a famous denter.

So, it was finalized that the bike is faulty, the frame is not balanced. I will not share what happened to that case and what was done by Pakistan Bikers Club, but during the process, it was revealed by a Pak Suzuki official in 2012 that the main Jig / Frame, where the GS 150 frame is made, one of the jig over there is not balanced and it was reported to Pak Suzuki but they did not manage the issue.

So, now I add the worse point:

1-Wiring Quality Problem still present
2-Quality of Chrome of Silencer moving down
3-Worst thing, instead of progress, Suzuki GS 150 was going downwards, many accessories were deleted, many good quality parts e.g., Indicators replaced with low quality,
4-The frame of many of the GS 150 suzuki sold in Pakistan is not balanced.

i think best bike available with p suzuki is GD1110, as its imported
all other have . . . .

Dear all,
what i am sharing is received from bikers all over Pakistan, plus bikers using gs in different situations and for different reasons.
I sold my 4th GS few days or may be a month back. The sharing is just to give you a neutral view, so that you can get good info before buying, not after buying, when u wld have PAID Rs.1,22,500.

let more things come, so that you know more about current gs being made.

and yes, dont forrget to add One More Line to all gs issues:

1- Poor Braking System

GS 2013

Euro 2

After my 2010 Model GS which I turned into a Trail Bike, I happened to have a Deluxe. Once you have kept a GS, you might say Deluxe has awesome handling & great braking, but once you are to talk about Response or Power to Weight ratio, you might have no words to support a Deluxe while comparing with Gs150.

After sometime I had a call from Pak Suzuki to join them in an event. I visited them & was offered to have a test ride of Euro 2 GS.

As I was using Deluxe, so for me it cld be a good change. A friend got  my deluxe and I was just moving to a GS. On May 2013 I got a new GS.

I kept the bike for about 1 year & 4 months. It was totally 5500kms done when I sold that. I share something with you and this is from Suzuki guy.

The sale of GS 150 has never been this much good, that it has been in 2013 end & till now. But, now I want to share something using data we have with us. The number of used bikes (gs 150) to be on sale has never been this much, as it is in 2014. You know what ? most of those are less than a year old.

We have noticed a few issues, in 2014 GS 150 bikes and wld like to share with you guys.

1-      Some people still talk about wiring quality,

2-      Braking is still bad for GS 150 users,

3-      Some of the users have made complaint about the rear fork,

4-      Many have talked about chrome quality,

5-      Many of the users have changed the indicators,

6-      The miss aligned frame of some units: This problem is still present, we might see a case against Suzuki in near future by a user of Lahore,

7-      Many people made complaint about the Meters and many got replacement,

8-      The frame quality or the steel used is of bad quality, one you tighten a bolt, next time its FrEE,

9-      Pak Suzuki gives 6 months warranty whereas Atlas Honda’s warranty is more than double, so you can know about the quality status of both brands,

10-   For the first time in history of GS 150 in Pakistan, we got info about engine complaint in Brand new bike, talking about 2013 / 14 production,

11-   For the first time in history of GS 150 in Pakistan, we found few complaints about gear box, sometimes it was resolved within Running Period, some users did not share the end,

Now the worst thing is that we have noticed miss aligned frame in 2014 and then a very bad addition is Complaint of Engine. Both the issues are just . . . . one cannot ignore.
